I have a 2000 watt Christie console. Over the last year or so, the high pitched buzzing sound has been getting louder. What would cause this. It stikes up runs fine. It is definitely coming from the rectifier.

First of all, nothing to be concerned about assuming you can still hear!!

After a long hard day of running, kill power and quickly tighten the bolts in the actual transformer windings. It is important that the power be off, but the metal still hot. Louis

Well, First you need to determine if one of the sets of windings is loose or if its the Iron frame laminations. Tightening up the screws may work but laminations will seperate in between the frame screws...generally. If the windings themselves are loose which is extremely common get some linoleun scraps and grind one edge sharp so you can drive a poece into where the other shims are at to tighten it back up. Lately I've found that linoleum works far better than oak wedges did. I can get a loud buzzing rectifrier that can be hears downstairs dead quiet again this way.

There are 15 CFS consoles in the theatre I just left and two of them have the same problem. When started it sounds like an alarm going off. The company booth engineer said it's the transformer windings. They have come loose and not to worry about them. They quiet down some after the machine has run for awhile.
