I would guess that it would be about 80-90% film, with almost all of the rest being digital, with at most just a handful of video or live shows, but it would be interesting to know. Would also be interesting to know if you ran film on any gauge other than 35mm. Also, if you ran any video, what formats?

The last day I was projecting was Saturday; four shows, all on 35mm.

It was 'The Last Legion', I don't think it was available in digital, the print we have is the international one with the 'blueband' MPAA rating tag (present on all rated US releases on the tail of the last reel) spliced on instead of being printed as part of the reel.

"The Last Legion" was in digital, but limited - I was told that The Weinstein Co is still testing the digital waters and has not worked out a VPF contract with the digital implementors yet. After we saw the booking in 35mm we insisted that our bookers get us a digital "print" since our competition was getting it in digital.

One of our 18 screens showed 92 shows in digital, the other 91 digital shows, our 10 screen had 50 digital shows.

2 weeks ago we did an Elvis "tribute" show and 2 local impersonators did a short concert and then we showed "Viva Las Vegas" from a DVD (with studio permission) . . . I was able to slice out the letterboxed picture and fill the scope screen, picture looked pretty darn good considering the DVD was only standard def (the HD DVD version does not come out until September) . . . .

52 shows (12 screens), all DLP.
This location has 4 screens with 35mm capability, they are just not running film at present.

One show, one screen. 70mm Titanic and 80 people. We had much better business over the weekend. 2 shows sat. TRON and SOUTH PACIFIC. Something over 500 folks for those 2 show with nearly the same on sunday for 2 showings of SP.

Most cinema websites have a section where you can see all movies showing on a particular day, and what times they're showing at. With that, it's very easy to count up the number of shows - just count the number of different times on each line and add them up [Smile]

For VUE Leeds Light at present, 55 showings per weekday. They only have one digital projector, which is used almost exclusively for subtitled films. I'm guessing that today, the Bollywood films (subtitled) would have been run on the digital projector - that's 2 showings. Everything else would be 35mm.

Having said that though, the Bollywood film isn't shown until 17:30 - so the digital equipped auditorium would be available for others all day! Then again, it can also run 35mm [Wink]

Last Thursday: twelve shows, all 35mm, on six screens.

Pretty much the only times I am paid to show 16mm is at colleges, and I haven't touched the format since the spring. I expect to run some 16mm this fall.

Video is mostly for festivals and art museums, as well as the occasional special event. I may have a DVD show coming up on Saturday and I know that I have a Beta SP show toward the end of October.

Digital? I doubt it, the Bollywood's will most probably be on film.

The only time I saw the DLP in use at this location was for the movie 'Hard Candy' last year. Not sure how often it is used and it's strage that the DLP has been stuck in one of the smallest auditoriums at that location.

Big weekend for movies around here:

Thursday - 6 shows at 6-plex (all platter/automated), makeup and breakdown of two prints each

Friday - ran some test reels after installing LED readers and DTS in home screening room

Saturday - home (morning/afternoon): 2 shows, 35mm, changeover; single-screen theatre (evening): 1 DVD show, 1 35mm show, changeover

Sunday - 2 35mm shows at home and maybe a 16mm show tonight

Monday (tomorrow) - 3 (?) shows at another single-screen theatre, changeover, carbon arc

I miss carbon arc -- haven't run it in 2 years now. Never got a chance to run it with digital sound either (only stereo and cyan tracks). [Frown]

Actually Michael, here in the US, there's a Bollywood-specific digital projection system being marketed rather aggressively. My bosses looked at it (it looked terrific, by the way), but ultimately passed it up due to high maintenance fees (it's also not DCI-compliant).
