Some of our intermittents have a red mark next to the half-full level on the window, but as I'm not sure if it shows the maximum level or the minimum level so I just try to keep them right on the line. Anyone know where the oil level should be kept at?

When stopped, the oil should not be higher than this line. Low limit is that some should show in the glass.

Level when running is not relevant.

Don't forget to put a drop or 2 of oil on the intermittent outer bushing everyday also.

While I have seen Century intermittents die from lack of oil...I've yet to see one that got drunk, persay. I would consider the half-full line the minimum/target. If you keep it there, you will know if you have a leaker and how much. I've seen many an intermittent get over-filled...it is one reason that I spin the motor before filling to ensure what looks empty might actually be over full (look at the window as you turn the motor by hand and you will see if the level drops or bubbles come up.
