So we have a AW5 that has never returned film very tightly so about a week ago when the film started to get more noticeably loose I just thought something on the platter was going a rye. I have now realized that either a sprocket or a shoe on the projector caused irreversible print damage. This is the first time this situation has occurred and yes it is quite shameful.

My question is what is the best way to deal with the print after it has been damaged? When removing the ring from the film we are starting to get some serious bulges sometimes right to the brain in which I skip the trailers and try to just make it playable. Anybody have any tips on ways I can minimize or alleviate this issue? I was considering breaking it down and rebuilding it but I am unsure if this would help at all. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Fix your projector, get a replacement print that isn't damaged, and report the damage.

Sometimes, play it enough; it will flatten a little bit. What do you tell your customers in the meantime?

Um....why do the customers need to know anything? Doesn't sound like he's describing anything that's a presentation issue.
