We have a bunch of drives that have started to go bad recently on DTS-6D units. What brand/model of "off the shelf" CD-ROM drive can I get to replace them with?

I assume I can just set the jumpers correctly and swap them out and that nothing needs to be ordered from DTS. Correct me if I am wrong there.

Do a search of the site and there is a lot of posts and topics on the options for drive replacement and no it is not as easy as it looks as often other items are needed as well
especially a aquilla board, new scsi controller

The best thing for you to do this time round is get the DTS upgrade kit. This kit includes everything you need to get your unit to the latest time code version playback specs and drive version... which now are IDE DVD drives. Once you have installed this kit and a drive fails you can get the cheapest DVD drive you can get (At Wal-Mart Literally) to replace the bad one. The new drives each include a SCSI bridge card that alone retails for over 80 bucks... You remove the SCSI bridge card from the bad drive and use it on the new drive... I've done this now on several occasions. We still sell and install tons of kits.. we keep a half dozen on the shelf just about all the time.
