I've got a DTS-6D player that has crapped out. All that is output through the audio connector is a motor-boat noise, regardless if a disc is playing or not. I've troubleshot this to the D536-RevD board (same board is bad in another player - different board OK in this player).

Any suggestions on repair vs replace?

Although I don't know how much it would be to do a repair/exchange, I would imagine it would be cheaper to do so rather than replacing the unit.

It kinda sounds like the same problem we had on screen 5 today a customer came out and said a you could said there was an awful noise in the theater. When I checked it out it it was a loud motor noise but you could could still here the sound from the film under it. We fixed it by going into our processor Dolby CP50 and pulling all the matrix cards out and cleaning them and puttin them back in. It fixed the problem right away. Now im sure if you have the same equipment as us. we have old equipment and your problem maybe something totally different. If it is sorry about the waste of time.

Give these folks a call on your DTS problem since those older players are no longer supported by DTS themselves.

They got one of my DTS-6 units in repair and see what happens.

Good luck - Monte

You can order a repair exchange D536 board or send yours in for repair, DTS still supports all of their products with the exception of the DTS-6, however we do our best keeping these operational, Carl is the best source for parts on the DTS-6 models and is a authorized repair station for DTS.
