We have a Dolby CP65 processor which we have been using for about 5 years.

We presently have non-sync set for 2:4 mode on the CAT 443 card and in this mode the automation indicator (pin 17) on the J18 connector successfully illuminates the LED on our remote switch panel. However, when we select 'non-sync standard' on the CAT 443 there should be an output on pin 20 to facilitate connection to a remote indicator. Unfortunately, this pin is dead!

Anyone else come across this? Does it sound like a faulty card or is there something simple I am missing?

Additionally, on the CAT 443, no matter what jumper setting is used, the processor always wakes-up on the MAG/AUX setting. Could these two problems be connected?

Do you have an SA10? If so, you need to do a mod. It involves jumping out the 1/2-watt resistor in the corner of the card, R98 (2.2K). The SA-10 loads down the control lines and causes the CP-65 to wake up Muted and in MAG/AUX.

If you have the current SA10 manual, the procedure is covered in section 3.5.

We don't have an SA-10 (although I did check out the details of the mod in the SA-10 manual on this website) but looking at the card it looks like someone has already done some sort of modification. If I recall correctly (I am not presently at work) there is a wire running from the bottom leg of a resistor (I think the one you describe) across to the leg of another resistor on the right of the card. When i get to work I'll note down the details or supply a scan of the card.

Could this modification also result in us not getting non-sync (standard) indication on pin 20?

The mod is to short out just the one resistor. If you don't have an SA10...then your problem is likely with the Cat 443 (or perhaps you have the wrong voltage selected on the Cat 250).
