We have a Type 62-80001 Supply that has been adjusted to only run from 0 to 40 amps, yet the tag and past history says 50-100. I know there is a way to set it, and the manual does show a "Fine" and "coase" adjustment. Is this the method, or could there be something deeper?

I work in a 6plex that has X90's that uses these dual setting switchers and used the coarse as a guideline for min amp output for the bulb then the fine was to target it in to the recommended amp setting for that bulb.

It then could be that your coarse setting was turned down almost all the way so you could run the unit at those low amp output settings.

I'd run the fine pot all the way down then run your coarse up to min amperage of your bulb can run on, then do the fine pot to get your recommended bulb amperage settings.

EG: I run a 2k bulb and I have the coarse setting down to 55 amps, then I run the fine up to 75 amps for our bulb run.

I agree, Start with the coarse adjustment and have an accurate amprobe on the DC line, Re-set the fine adjuster in the middle of it's range and then sloooowly turn the corse adjuster to the value you need. Should work!

I usually set the fine in the middle and set the course for the mid point of the range that the lamp is designed for so the fine can be used to accurately raise the current over the bulbs life
