Okay....glad you got one...I was going to say...the LL3 is the Simplex pedestal that most folks would be familiar with. It was the basic Simplex pedestal with a rectangular footprint. The other one people would know is the LL1 (aka "Heavy Duty").
I have uploaded to Brad the Parts sheet on the LL3/LL6 (the picture of the pedestal was a poor photocopy that I scanned...sorry...but the actual parts sheet is decent). I also sent Brad the Pedestal selection chart that shows the two basic styles and their relative projection heights based on down angle...and its "In Color."

LL1s:

Are the bases on this next picture (below) LL2s or LL3s? (Steve will recognize this booth.) Also, these particular bases have a lateral adjustment at the back that I have not seen elsewhere. I don't know if it was part of the base or something home-made. I assume that the purpose was to allow re-centering the projectors for full-frame silent films (which I never personally showed in that theatre; the building itself was built well into the "talkie" era and the bases are not original to the theatre).

(sorry...these are not the greatest pictures, but they are what I had available)

Scott,
The lower pictures are LL3s.
The LL1s (Heavy Duty) always had the horizontal offset adjustments. It wasn't just for silent or sound...don't forget about 4-track magnetic. But also, it ensured that one could precisely center the image from both projectors for all lenses since you have vertical and horizontal adjustment.

The LL1 was introduced in 1937 so I think the horizontal offset adjustment was just intended for extra flexibility.
