Has anyone ever attempted to modify the N-248-G Main Drive Gear Stud Nut with some type of roller bearing/bearing assembly? These nuts are pleagued by eroded flat spots on every E-7 that I have ever seen.

LaVezzi made a serirs of modifications at one time for the Super Simplex. I don't think they ever did for the E7, which was pretty good right out-of-the-box. Louis

Brenkerts used a thrust bearing assembly between the end of the gear and the projector casting. Still had to oil the shaft though.

Kalee had a ball bearing main drive gear that was extremely robust. If you want to mess with a projector that has the best fit and finish of any projector ever made get yourself a Kalee 21. It's even better built than the DP-70 IMHO.
