The usl js series processors can take the analog left and right signals and derive a center and surround channel. I need to know what extra boards are required to do this or do all their units do it already.

If your JS unit has the matrix card, which is the card on the left before the three EQ cards and after the preamp/noise reduction card, it's already prepared for multi-channel.
It's the dip settings in the back that configures the system what you want the unit to process..
Check the manuals section on this issue..
good luck-Monte

Michael,
If you e-mail me a list of the modules in the chassis I will be able to determine what the JS is capable of.

One of the places I work has 9 of them. I need to go through all of them eventually. Do you know how much the matrix cards cost?

Do you just want center and surround or do you want left, center, right and surround. If just center surround with no left or right there are switches on the back that you change to make it essentially center mono and surround. You will not need a matrix card to do this. You will need a matrix card to do full stereo and the left and right EQ cards as well. You will also need the extra speakers and amps if they are being changed from a mono center and surround to full stereo.

Thanks I just wanted to make sure the matrix card was required. Now the thing is trying to get more amps at the theater.
