Boy, this is a long shot.

Does anyone have any software-based dubber software, so I can sync up playback with some external input (timecode, shaft encoder, etc.)? Occasionally one imagines cases where this might be useful, but I've never gotten around to making it happen, and could use one...

p.s.: On the other hand, if somebody has a 4-track mag dubber in Boston that I could use this weekend for free, that would also fit the bill. But that seems unlikely...actually, I can't tell which of these requests is more unlikely...

John, haven't heard of any software stuff, but the first thing I gotta ask is do your projectors have encoders yet? If not, that's your first task.

Too bad you can't get to L.A. ... after several years of trying to find dubbers for UC Irvine, I now have three..one there, one in my garage and one waiting to be picked up from it's original location. [Big Grin]

I have a thread here titled " Encoder interface to Digital audio decks for press/workprint screenings" that shows my encoders in my FP-38d's.

It was my thought to use the DA20's CLAMP (TP3) signal to drive a dubber. I realize I'd need to convert from 4-pulse-per-frame (1-per-perf) to quadrature, but I don't think that's a big deal.
