What specs should good focussing glases have? I have trouble focussing CS on our 10m screen at 23m distance. I tried a common 8x25 binocular but that magnification seems to be too large, the image is too shaky and hard to get through the eyepiece.

I would think that something around a 4* mag with a max possible opening would be best, am I right?

Hmm, we're in germany. Not to say we have no rifle scopes here, but, ya know, getting stuff like that is not so common here.

I might still look them up on ebay.

Tim, I've never seen anything like those -- are they easy to come by? (Where is this guy looking? I guess it's a Drive-In, eh?

I've used binoculars, monoculars, the focusing tube on the Simplex XLs, and after carefully seriously evaluating all of them by having someone at the screen verify where I am when I say I think I am in focus, I am on the money when I use my own eyes. I can do as well if I use binoculars ON A STAND, but never as well with any of the hand-held aids. So if I get the best results with eyes alone, why bother with having to look thru anything?

The Simplex projector mounted monocular would be ok as they are fixed, like binoculars attached to a stand, except that the optics are pretty crude and ruin contrast, likewise making them not as good as my eyes.

I am 130 ft from the screen.

Yes, that's the projection booth scene from Mel Brooks "Silent Movie". If you look closely, they're real Coke bottle bottoms.
