Has anyone done business with iceco / magna-tech and more importantly bought any of the stuff off their ebay auction. We are looking into their used dts 6 and 6d's and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them.

Very expensive for starters - way overpriced, esp for the 6D units..

Just try to get one from the equipment sale forum here. They do pop up frequently. Although the ICECO would probably had been bench tested but I doubt a film-techer here wouldn't try it before selling it.

We have had good luck with all the DTS players we bought from ICECO and most had the upgrade DVD drives installed

I've bought some xenons from them--OK price and very good service. If you phone ask for Dara Rausch.

Best to buy only in person from them...

My dealings with them over the years can only be described as a very
mixed bag.

Fred,
Thats why I always went there in person... many times actually. Then I got to see what was in the bag before hand. One time I even took James with me...
I also agree with Monte... the 6D units are way overpriced anyway.

..esp when the inside contains a 486SX25 motherboard powered by a AT 250w power supply with cards plugged into ISA slots.
What is driving up the price is their mods using IDE DVD drives with SCSI to IDE bridge cards attached to each.
..along with tech labour.

Takes less then 45 min. to install Monte...

I have had good luck with them so far, both as a buyer of some of my stuff and buying from them. I agree they don't have the best prices, but they are big and have lots of overhead.
