Hey Guys,

Is anyone else who is playing a 35mm print of "Bran Nue Dae" noticing any problems with the optical sound track? I was just watching a bit of it and noticed that the sound seems to be ever so slightly out, only just noticable.

Has anyone else noticed this? I didn't receive DTS discs so we're forced to play it in SR.

I think ours was fine, I'm not back in until Wednesday so if someone else can't verify before that, I'll check then.

Check the sync pop on the leader and see if it's printed out of sync. Have a look at all spools and see if there is a pattern there.

Cheers guys, I'll have a look at this when I go in tomorrow. A lot of the movie looks like they've done ADR and dubbed over everything. At one point where Missy Higgins in singing it's about a second out, but right after they're talking and it's fine.

Just a quick note on the DTS discs, the production did not license a DTS Digital Sound track. The timecode is present to accomodate a DTS-CSS Access track, to provide open captions for the hearing impaired.

Sound is printed in sync on all reels. Just watched some more and at most points it's fine. Other times, mainly during singing it's almost a second out. Pretty crap, but what can I do. I'm guessing all prints are like this.

I have talked to several people who have watched it at other sites in WA and they also noticed the sound being out of sync, only during the singing, though.

I saw this in 2K digital and the sound was also out of sync at the start for the first 10 mins but did get better after a few scenes. It was fairly obvious that many scenes were ADR not location sound and that may have added to the problem.

Yup consensus here was just average ADR for some scenes.
