This morning we had a special showing for a school group so I turned on the projector and equipment earlier than normal. When we do these showings we normally run down the trailers so it starts right at the feature. When I first started the projector, the arm on the take-up platter would gradually fall back to the resting position and eventually drop the fail-safe. This happened 3-4 times before it finally started taking up.

What puzzles me is that I haven't been having any problems with this platter. It's been running fine up until this morning and it was running just fine all day after this happened.

I know this platter is properly timed and normally the take-up arm is rock steady through out the entire show.

What I'm wondering is the AW3's need to "warm up" in the morning before they work properly? Would the fact it was chilly in the projection room have anything to do with this?

Best thing is to try it next time - "warm it up" before use.

Also, did you have your system laced up the night before, or did you do the advance trailer thing prior before screen time?

I've always made it a habit to never lace up the night before - leave the machinery empty, for I've had issues with the platter systems - both with AP3's and AW3's - being loaded in the run position instead of in the rest position and fail to start up as normal.

Your leds have dimmed ever so slightly slowing your speed down just enough to drop the arm on a cold morning. Just turn up the HI pot a tiny amount and you will be fine.
