Just wondering if anyone has done this?

We have a film festival coming up and the operator has requested to interview someone from the USA via SKYPE. The audience would see his camera shot on the cinema screen (that part's not a problem). Just wondering how to do the audio part. The audience will need both the interviewer (in the cinema) and the interviewee audio to be heard in the auditorium.

Anyone done this? It may be easy but for the moment it's not coming to me.

At first I thought you meant interviewing potential theater employees over the internet and showing it to your audiences. Maybe they could vote on their wireless keypads.

But for what you want to do, a very simple audio mixer would do the trick. Just take the microphone outputs from one source and the computer sound output from the other, mix them and LIKE MAGIC it comes out as one signal and goes straight into your coveted CP-45! You will probably need a mixer that can handle both balanced and unbalanced audio depending on your microphone audio outputs.

We do this on an almost monthly basis. We do what Joe suggested and use an audio mixer to handle the PA/Skype audio.

We have Skype setups planned for a film festival in March and are installating new cabling for better speed and backup, based on recent tests. Next week we are doing 40 transmissions over two days for Apple Iphone apps in a global event [Cool]

...."careful plumbing", good dedicated sub-mixer board with monitor sends for reliable two way conversation and backup. Very busy lately to make up for my Cancer holiday of last year.

You will have to use a mixer capable of sending out a AUX out or monitor channel where you can choose what sources the monitor hears and what the level is independant of the master audio. Send the AUX out channel into the computer with only the speaker in your house's signal so that they will be able to hear the questions being asked of them. Make sure you don't send them thier audio signal back or you will create a nasty feedbacl loop or echo if there is enough of a delay.
