I beleive someone posted on here that they had succesfully retrofitted a Kelmar changeover on a DP75. If possible could I get some help as to how to accomplish that and possibly a location where that has been done? My boss is interested but would like to speak to someone where this has been done to find out if they are happy with it. I understand if you don't want to give out that info but some direction as how to retrofit the Kelmar on the DP75 would be very very appreciated. Thank!

Hi sean

I service 4 dp75s and think the standard system altho a little fiddley is the best way to go.if the solinoids are faulty just about any sol of the correct voltage and torque would do.

Come to think of it Kelmars could replace current sols in the same position, but why make life any harder than it is. [Smile]

I've done many DP-70's with the Kelmars. Some machining is required to both the change Over and the gate frame to make it fit correctly... and it barely does at that but works better then the originals. Many Hollywood DP-70's have been retrofitted with Kelmars including those at the Academy Theater.

The DP75 is a maintained contact type changeover system and the kelmar coils are only pulse rated you will have a hard time i think making the linkage and blade fit

The DP-75 is one projector I have never been under the shutter cover of. Fortunately there are far more DP-70 still running than there are DP-75. It may still be possible to adapt something in terms of the Kelmar to the DP-75 and I am pretty resourceful doing these sorts of things.

I know that Essanay made a version of the Zipper for the DP70 and I recently read in an old trade magazine that DP70's were also used with Weaver changeovers.

Thanks for the reply's... I sent Kelmar pics of the machines and all the relevant parts and linkages. The original electronics were replaced previous with a home brew set-up that is not adequate for our c/o type of operation. One option is to go back to the original Kinoton electronics but we are exploring all other options.
