I have a client who's back part of the theatre is very small with low ceiling. If I install a QSC or JBL surround it will be too bulky and be too large for the space. Any ideas on who sells a small 2 way speaker at about 100 watts?

Did you check JBL 8320? Smaller than 8340, made for smaller rooms.

Remember you need MORE surrounds with a low ceiling, not less. 100 watt units would then be EACH? Thta is vastly more level than you could stand.

I once had 15 surrounds each side of a projection booth with only 12 for the rest of the room. The ceilingheight was 50 ft in front of the balcony, but tapered down to 7 ft in next to the booth. (Theatre was a up/down twin split with a new booth at the rear on the main floor. Louis

Yes I plan for 3 speakers each side in the rear section, normally I would only use one but the ceiling height is only 8 to 9 feet in the back. I need little small ones, and I know 100 watts is a bit much however I would never drive them to that, I'll take less just thought I'd inquire. I don't think I'm even looking for commercial cinema speakers for this.

QSC AD series

JBL contractor control

Any of the above could/should be available through your cinema dealer if they sell either manufacturer's cinema products.

The JBL comes with a very low profile mount ("Invisiball"), I have not seen the QSC AD series in person so I don't knoow how those mounts work (I have the Control 28 and 25 in use at home).

I would sugest that you look at a acoustical modeling program and look t the coverage first i think more thn three will be required and small speakers are usually less efficient and will require more power

Ok Ok I give up! That's why Film-tech is so valuable for all of us...Info! I did install the JBL contractor speakers in one situation that required ceiling and they sounded great. thanks all...there is more than enough here to go on.
