I am running a show where we're using a video projector and plugging the DVD audio into NonSync 2. The problem is the sound level is very low, even with the fader set to 10.

Is this as simple as turning up the NonSync 2 pots inside the cover, or do I need to do something else.

Also, is there an easy way to send the left and right to the respective surround channel.

If the tape/disk has bars and tone on it, then the process is fairly easy.

Create a custom format, copy of format 61, and set "opt-decode config" to "pro-logic."

Select that format and play the tone. Open the front of the unit and adjust the NS2 gain pots to center the meters on the cat. 222 "SR"/A, just as if setting Dolby level for 35mm film. The meters will be active even though you will not be using the noise reduction for video.

This will a) set the levels to an equal point for both channels, so the the decoding will work correctly and b) set the levels to approximately the same level as for film (normally, "7").

If you do not have bars and tone on the tape/disk, then you will need to set the fader to 7 (or whatever your normal setting is), play a dialogue scene (no music), and set the input gains for normal volume in the auditorium and as little dialogue as possible in the L and R channels (it should all come through the center). Check with another tape/disk to be sure that dialogue remains centered.
