That is correct. Christie has ceased production on all 35mm related equipment. They still support them with parts but no new equipment. Just DCinema from now on.

You watch-STRONG will follow close behind since they market NEC digital units..

Monte; I think it will be awhile. Strong has a very good international business with 35mm. Money is tighter in most foreign places (and they are not as susceptable to a good sales pitch.) Louis

Actually Steve that is not 100% true. While they have ceased production.... for now... Accodring to Jim Graton you can purchase your own parts kit and do a "build it your self" P-35 projector. They also have enough stuff left to build a number of the Cine-X35's. So yes, you can still have a new P-35 and if I had a need for any I wouldn't hesitate to go this route. Of course you will have to warranty it yourself!

Strong has intention of stopping the production of Century or Simplex 35m projectors. They sold more last year than you might think...

It sure would be nice if Christie would sell the bulb covers for their AW3 platters. I found the actual part available elsewhere (see the thread on this for details), but it took a fair amount of digging to get to that point.

Now why the heck would anyone want to buy parts and build their own P-35??

Apart from being a rubbish projector, the Century/Simplex's, Kinoton's, Cinemeccanica's &tc are still being made and far outstrip the Christie in longevity, reliability and parts availability.

It's time to bury the Christie and dance around the bonfire.

I believe the Century has ceased production at Strong...there are still amble available from the last production though. Simplex is in production and is the popular head.

As for Christie having parts to make projectors...well yeah, any responsible company will do a "last buy" or a "last production" to ensure there are enough parts to support existing systems for a reasonable period of time. It isn't that they WANT to sell kits. I did state that Christie is supporting their existing products with parts but they were no longer making new 35mm equipment...and that remains 100% true. Order a P35-GPS and see what they send you. Order a Simplex PR-1014 from Strong and see what they send...one company will send your order back saying "NLA".

Is it true that the Century has stopped production in other licenced versions such as the Monee and Westar as well? Not that the Monee versions were anything to write home about but it would be interesting to know. It's very sad indeed that one of the better projector mechanisms, in it's original guise, has finished production... and just a decade or two short of that famous "century" that the machine was named in honour of.
