I just started using an R2 with the countryman mics. It seems to take forever when I break the system down and wind up the mic cords. Anyone have a mini multiple cord reel or something you use to make it faster and more organized?

Head to Home Depot and get one of those 100' extension cord reels to wind the mic cable on.

Hi Larry, I looked at the cord pro mini, but it is 5-5/8" diameter and 1-7/8" deep, so if I get four of these my R2 case may not accommodate the extra bulk - what do you think?

Thanks Monte, these mic cables are very thin however, sort of like the wire used on IPOD headphones. I'm also looking for something small.

Just coil them by hand, if you want them to last...the cables are easily damaged. I've worked with the R2 for well over a decade, it isn't a big deal to coil the cables.

You won't need to unwind all the cable usually. You will need a few meters to reach the multiplexer. What I do (D2, but the layout is the same) is to unwind some cable and then I tie the roll of cable and I put the microphone stand inside the coil of cable, so that the cable sits on the plexiglass bases, giving stability to the stands themselves.
The only concern is that when you are coiling it back, it's so easy to drop the microphones...

It's a tight fit but they do fit in. I hand rolled them for almost 2 years and much prefer this method. It cuts my set up and tear down time almost in half.
