I'm looking for a replacement crank for a very old Moviola differential rewinder, model RHB-1, that has two "towers" and four spindles (three 16mm and one 35mm) The crank has a hub with an internal gear that engages another gear in the housing. I've tried Christy's Editorial and The Boston Connection, but neither firm has the part. Any suggestions?

Hi Glenn, welcome to the forums. [Smile]

If you still have the old, damaged crank your best (and most likely only) bet is to contact a local machinist and have them make you a new one. (and a spare while they have the tooling set up.)

You'll find that is often the only solution to obsolete parts, which is most likely what your crank is.

Tony,

Thanks.

I want to exhaust all other possibilities before I go that route. The crank is a complex form and would surely be very expensive to machine.

Have you contacted Moviola? J&R film (a/k/a Goldberg Bros.) handles Moviola. Its possible it may not be obsolete.

Steve
