We are using CP500, CP65&DA20. We have a buzzing sound from HF speakers when we playing on analog. No buzzing sound we play in Digital. The buzzing sound in analog is also intermittent.(Sometimes have and sometimes don't). I've tried swap all the cards in the processor but still the same buzzing sound appears.Please advice.

What kind of soundhead do you have? I know with the simplex 5 star soundheads. If the tensioner mechanism is not locking right or is out of alignment. You will get a buzz that comes and gos.

You should all so check all grounds on the analog side. But i would think if it was a ground it would be constant.

When was the last time that projector had an A-Chain alignment? Since it's an intermittent problem (comes and goes) and it's associated only with your analog sound, I wonder if you are occasionally picking up DTS time code, or maybe even frame lines.

Related question: Does the noise come/go at the same points in the program? This would point to something about the segment(s) of film causing it. Either the film is out of spec or it is revealing a flaw in your A-Chain.

I recently misthreaded a Kinoton and MAN(!) did that make some noise! [Eek!]

I **immediately** went to the Dolby processor and ripped out all the little blue thingies off the cards.

Problem went away after that.

Okay -- that last part was a little joke -- you'd have to see the related video in the VIDEOS section of this site -- but the misthread of the sound head DID make a lot of noise.

Thing about a misthread is that it's less likely that you'd do it repeatedly. Might happen once in a while. You correct the mistake and move on. If the problem is happening repeatedly, I would look beyond human error.

It might help to know a little more about the noise itself. Is it a steady sound, a particular frequency (or range)? How noticeable? Emanating from all channels?

Manny, go back and edit it again, this time take the "little joke" out completely.

There are too many people who skim posts and would still miss the joke part.

And remember you are dealing with an OP from a different culture, so little jokes may go misunderstood.

Ram, did the noise start suddenly? Is it happening with only one print or all of them? As was already asked, is it happening in the same places?

You may have track damage to your film like what happened to Bernie (see the "CP-65 Random Buzz Sound" thread.)

I think my problems is the same as BERNIE's POst.
I've the buzz sound with sound mechanism & christie soundheads.
