Are you saying that the thing sets itself too high? When I used to do this for Cinemark, the procedure was to find the "high point," if you will, then to back off just a hair. So, I assume you're telling me that I should let the processor find home then manually back it off a couple-few clicks. Right?

As much as I'd like to take credit for the outboard EQ idea, I actually ran into it first many years ago in a legit theater's system. They had 31 band EQ's on all three stage channels as they ran film and also used patch bays to switch between behind the screen speakers and others on and beside the stage. They could tweak the sound as Victor did if needed on older films and also for live P.A. use. The tech told me that 99% of the time on film the EQ's were left bypassed but that it saved his bacon on a few shows by having them available.
