Hi all, We've been having this problem for a month or so. We have a Xetron XHN with the Maxi-8x automations. At first, it would just randomly shut-down in the middle of a show, we searched around, and replaced the relays, now, it only shuts down with about 6ft of film still in it. Any ideas? Also, I don't know if it helps but this projector is setup to run 3D and standard film.

Random shut down of the projector or the lamp only? The 6 feet still in the projector... check you intermission/run switch. Its probably on intermission, which in that case it will stop the projector and not let the tail run through.

Complete shut-down. lamp, motor, everything. The intermission switch idea seems legitimate, when it would shutdown middle of the show, when it was restarted it would reset everything(lights up, sound to non-sync) I'll check the switch tomorrow.

Bad failsafe microswitch is my guess. Louis

Also make sure that your failsafe arms are not bobbing up and down. We had Neumade/Xetron projectors with Maxi-12 automations and optical cue detectors/mechanical failsafes. I also had Neutronic platters and with that combination, the failsafe had a tendency to drop sometimes and shut the projector down.

Turns out it was in intermission mode, not run. switched it over and it ran all 4 shows without a problem. I cant believe our tech missed that. Thanks for your help
