I have two BX-100's that I need to move. These things are big and heavy. Anyone have any ideas on if these things can be disassembled? I found an old manual online but I think it was for only the project head and it didn't really have any disassembly instructions.. When I say BX-100, I'm talking about a stand, the light unit, the mechanism to move the film, and the two large round containers that hold the film. Any help on how to move these would be appreciated.

It sounds like what you have are two complete projectors which include the projector, the soundhead underneath it, two magazines (one top and one bottom), a lamphouse and a base. Check Boxoffice Magazine (they are also on-line) as there are ads running in their classifieds of dealers wanting to purchase used theatre equipment. The buyer will pick them up. Or you can offer them for sale on this website. The Brenkert BX-100 is a good solid machine.

Geoff: from memory, Is the "light unit" an arc lamp? If so remove it from the pedestal by disconnecting the electric and remove the bolts uder the lamphouse and lifting off the whole lamphouse. Next the magazines[spool boxes] upper and lower can be removed by taking out the screws that hold them [top] to the BX 100. BX 100 only identifies the projector head,nothing else, so I`ll guess from here. I`m guessing its an RCA MI 9030/50 sound head. Remove the screws that hold the mounting plate from the projector to sound head and remove projector and plate from sound head. Next remove the 4 bolts that hold the soundhead to the bracket on the pedestal/base/stand and remove the sound head. All these items are heavy but manageable. It sure helps if all the items are identified by brand and model #. The only identication here is BX 100 which only pertains to the projector head.

Do you want to move them to a dumpster or scrapyard? A sawzall and sledgehammer are your friends with that job. The pedestal is probably cast iron which will turn into manageable pieces when introduced to a persuasive sledgehammer.
If you want to relocate it and some stairs are involved, call several men with strong backs. The reel cabinets bolt to the projector (upper) and soundhead (lower). The projector head will separate from the sound head which will then come off the pedestal. The lamphouse bolts to the pedestal. The pedestal will weigh LOT.
