Anyone this using this model with the double guide shoe past the intermittent sprocket. Service life and film handling? Beside being a German Ernemann clone with a better lens turret; any chronic issues....

We have been using one for about 2.5 years. Hasent given us any problems and its easy to work on and extremely easy to thread. Plus it gives a very good picture on screen.

Simplex Apology is the worst Simplex projector. That rubber made motor coupler breaks easily. It eats tension straps. Film may get jammed to the guide shoe if there is a torn perforation or a bad splice. You may scratch the print if you dont pay attention on it. It takes 10 seconds for the sound drum to get up to speed so you cant use this machine for changeover. Positive: projected picture is very steady.

The projector had three versions of projector parts from the intermittent sprocket to sound drum. We had plan to update with the current parts with an additional film sprocket but the replacement cost was too much for the client....so he is stuck with the older double film shoe design....we will revisit the option in the future if scratching and splice issues are a problem.
