Hi Folks!

First post! Long time lurker, first time poster. [Smile]

I was wondering if the good people here have any experience with the product Pec-12? I seldom see it mentioned among the other film cleaners. Their Pec pads seem to be of decent quality, too. Here is a link to a site with more info:

I've tried filmrenew, but I found it irritated my nose & throat too much. I'd love to use filmguard, but I don't have a kelmar yet.

Howard,

You don't need a Kelmar cleaner to use Filmguard. I'm assuming you've got some type of pad setup you're using, or maybe just lintless cloth and hands? Those aren't ideal, but can still be used to clean with Filmguard. It sounds like you've cleaned without a Kelmar using other liquid cleaners. No difference for Filmguard.

From the description there is one big difference between FG and
Pec 12. FG definitely leaves an oily residue which is desirable for use in projection and apparently Pec 12 does not. I've received prints from sources which specifically requested that no oily cleaners be applied. Pec 12 seems like a spot cleaner rather than something to be applied to the entire print.

Hi Guys!

Yes, I've cleaned prints by hand, but I was under the impression that Filmguard is best applied with a Kelmar. I would like to get a Kelmar to put on my rewind bench, but I'm not sure how to go about mounting the cleaner to my bench. I've got a hollywood power rewind.

Bill - If I can ask, what cleaners do you use for an entire print? Filmguard?

Howard, the prices on used Kelmar cleaners are really cheap these days. They can easily be had for $200 or less. It is worth it.

I have a line on a cheap kelmar, but I don't know how to mount it to my table. I wish you'd make more mounting brackets for rewind tables.
