O.K. This is going to sound like a dumb question:

If you are running two separate projectors to the left and to the right of a Christie 5 tier platter system - does it matter which platters you thread to and from? I mean there are no set platters that are for a certain side if there are swivel rollers installed? Correct? As long as film is going along a clear path? It's not just the center platter that can go either way? Right?

I ask this seemingly dumb question as it has been a while since I have worked with one of these. This is to clear up an argument. I probably will figure it out on my own, but I thought maybe someone on here would have a quick answer.

What brought this up was that I built the film "Woman Under the Influence" and one of the managers I work with told me I built the film on the wrong platter, to which i replied - it doesn't matter which platter I built it on.

Anyways....

I call it the way you believe in - it's the roller path that's the key here.

What's happened is that the other employees were taught to build on certain decks .. and it became a mindset to them.

I ran into the same thing with Drive-In LP270's at a 4Plex I took over: they were mindset to always use only the top and bottom deck for playback. I started to use the middle and the employees there went ballistic all over me for me using the middle deck.

They were taught to leave the middle deck open for builds only.

On the other hand, the center deck is the only one with access to both machines, 100% of the time. Louis

Dennis,

You will likely find that the roller path is set up to only work with top two going one was and the bottom two going the other.
