hi every one.
happy holidays by the way.
i have a JSD-80 sound processor in stock and i wonder if it can be connected to a dolby reader. we are using CP650 but in case someone fails i would like to be ready.

You would need a DA20 and some custom cables to make this work. It has been done, but it looks like a pain.

It actually should not be very difficult because the JSD-80 is more or less pin for pin compatable with the CP-650. Lord only knows why the JSD-100 was not made the exact same way [Confused] [Eek!] [Mad] . I have pulled many CP-650's and installed JSD-80's in their place with only having to actually connmect just a very few wires.

Like Scott says, the "Dolby Reader" does not supply audio information; it's just a sort of video camera that sends an "image" of the SR-D track to a CP650D. This video is decoded into 6 channel audio in the CP650. To use a JSD-80 you also need a SR-D adapter/decoder - the only one is the Dolby DA20 (ok, there's also the obsolete DA10 if any are still operable).
Conceivably you could have a CP650SR (no SR-D ability) and also a DA20 but this configuration is unusual.
If you do have a DA20 available it is pretty easy to connect to a JSD80. But you would have to have your A and B chain alignments redone, this was done and is saved in the CP650. There's no way to transfer the data to your JSD.
