I have a dead led DTS reader that I'd like to repair.
Can anyone help me with luminance and current specs or a specific type/brand for a good replacement? I understand extra luminance can be tuned to a lower value by adding a multiturn resistor, but some guidance as to the best suitable variety would be welcome.

You should be able to find a second hand DTS head these days, with the digital conversion in progress many many many old processors like DTS and CP500 are just thrown away!

Honestly I would just try any red LED with the same physical size, they are really cheap and I don't think the wavelength spec, and to a degree, brightness spec, are all that critical. Search Mouser Electronics or Digi-Key.

I think Tony is right. Note that almost all LEDs have the same maximum current spec.Get one that is physically the same, with the light aimed the same as the dts.

Or just buy one from them. Louis

Actually brightness was an issue I had to order a large quantity of a ulta bright red led when I used to rebuild them
