I don't see any projectionists- - all I see is people sitting
on their butts watching platters, which is about as functionial
as watching grass grow. I suppose there was a chair in my booth,
but I don't recall using it. My personal rule was that "if you
are sitting, you aren't working".

I guess it depends on how many screens you are running. When I was a one-screen projectionist I spent a lot of time sitting. You can only clean so much, and once the rewinding and threading is done what are you supposed to do?

When I was booth manager at a 15 screener once we got all machines going and went back for a focus check except for a periodic check there was time for the two operators and myself to sit. The one who took over from me removed the desk and chairs I had in a "office area" for them to use apparently feeling the staff shouldn't sit at all during their 8 hour shift. She was a bit of a hard-nose who felt her underlings had to fear her.
