Hi everyone,
I've been given a small Philips 500w xenon lamphouse and only today got around to looking inside - am I right in thinking that the rectifier / power supply is built in (like on an Orcon, ) and it will operate from a 230v single phase supply? ( given the electronics haven't given up the ghost?!)

I have got a 500W lamphouse for a Philips FP20 and the supply is single phase. The projector is still wrapped somewhere waiting for some space, but if you post a picture I may be able to tell you if it's the same one.

Here's a pic of the lamp house. Since posting I've found out that it doesnt have a built in power supply though. Is yours complete ? Cheers, Jon

Mine is different and the rectifier is bolted on the projector pedestal.

These lamphouses were originally designed for use with the General Electric sealed beam 500 Watt xenons.
When these were discontinued by G.E. Philips provided a modified
interior for use with 500W horizontal lamps with a seperate, small size dichroic mirror with the same diameter as the original G.E. lamp. These units were supposed to work primarily with Philips FP-16 projectors. For use with the FP-20 (or 30 for that matter) some additions had to be used.
These comprise of:
1. A holder that attaches to, and protrudes from the lamphouse by three supports and which enables the mounting of a concave lens as beam spreader.
Without this negative lens the f2 of the mirror will not reach forward far enough and will cause improper lighting with great
unevenness and a garanteed hot spot on the screen.
2. Between the lamphouse body and the back of the projector an
"H-Frame" was introduced for constructional stiffness and to move the lamphouse about 3/4 inch more to the back.
These units, when properly installed ( very critical, and mirror, arc plasma and center of beam enlarger lens should be perfectly aligned!!) give an outstanding light output with superior light evenness on the screen.
Only the igniter is built-in as is the make/break contactor circuitry.
