Hello,

This is probably a easy question to answer but I'm a newbie so any help is appreciated! I'm attempting to attach a Kelmar 7000 series takeup arm to a Century projector. The Century's I've worked with in the past had a rounded take-off pulley in the sound head that would connect to the rounded pulley on the lower arm.

This projector appears to have a gear where I was expecting to find the rounded take-off pulley (see below). Does anyone know what kind of belt I need to get that will match the match teeth on that gear, and is this something I can pickup at Sears or a local auto parts store? Also will a belt like this be able to work with the rounded pulley on the lower arm?

The projector head is a Century HH and the sound head is Century TR-3-C.

That is the gear that drives the pulley on the projector (you are missing the pulley). If you look on the outer bracket (same one that has the tension idler for the belt to the projector), you'll see there is a hole where the take up pulley should be attached. The take up pulley has the mating gear to that one and will in-turn drive your lower reel via a belt (preferably a V-belt but many use Roundthane.

Yup, you are missing the pulley entirely. In the picture below it mounts in the empty hole (bottom right corner). However the picture below also shows how you can put a Simplex takeup pulley on the shaft and drive the reel counter-clockwise (for those of us who prefer that).

That varies based on what take up is running with it and its orientation. Often, one has to size it based on all of the above. I had some rule of thumbs for some Simplex Sound heads to Kelmar and Ballantyne take ups but not for Century.
