Hi

I have just bought a Philips (Kinoton?) 16mm projector. The model number on it is LCB0019.

Does anyone have any info/advice on this machine?

Hello,
Congratulation. It seems that you own a Philips/Kinoton FP 18
16mm projector.
Normally it should be called LCB 0018. I have never heared FP 19 is on market. Maybe second generation of FP 18.
It is provided with a pin cylinder system instead of a real maltese cross system, which had been cheaper in production.
Built before 1970 if serial number is below 850.

That would be incorrect.

The LCB 0016 - 0019 would refer to the FP16 projector line though we've never referred to them by that numbering. Generally, we just use FP16 name. I suppose it had an "EL" number too.

In any event, the LCB 0019 is equipped with the 500W Xenon Lamphouse.

For completeness:
LCB 0016 is suitable for arc lamp / lamphouse
LCB 0017 equipped with incandescent lamp 12V, 150W
LCB 0018 suitable for SPP lamphouse.

Thanks for the replies.

When I bought it the projector was not being used with a 500w Lamp House, in fact it was using a Xenon Conversion Magna Arc lamphouse (which I also now own!)

What was the actual difference between a FP18 & FP16?

There are probably others but the FP 18 uses a belt clutch system for the take-up and feed. FP 16 uses a more standard clutch system. Also there is a clearance issue on the large reels on the FP 18 that is not there with the FP 16.
