Is it correct that the oil level on a Victoria 5 is at the red dot on the sight glass with the projector running?

V8 is while running. V4 and V5 while at rest

Always wondered what is the framing position for the correct level - oil level will change depending on its position.
I've also assumed that the framing should be in its mid position before the oil was checked.

I gather that the red dot indicated that the oil was not submerging the rubber oil seals
If the movement is overfilled they rot out very quickly

On the Vic5, the framing should be at the half way point.

but there is no 'half way' mark on the projector and in fact the mechanical mid point won'r produce a perfectly framed picture - if memory serves.

I forgot about that, recall running RP40 after the oil change. The center point on the travel is a guideline.
