Anybody Have A Schematic For One Of These Kinoton UT-2000 MUTs?

It's usually mated with one of these Kinoton 'low-boy' towers, although in the
past 4 years the only time I've used the big reels was once when I was going
on vacation and it was too much of an inconvenience for 'the other guy' to pull
his head out his i-phone long enough to be bothered to do change-overs.

All the MUT does now is blow its' fuse the moment I power it up.
I've tried disconnecting all the external connections (motors, sensors, brakes,
etc) from the circuit board below, and it still blows the on-board fuse the
moment power is applied, leading me to believe that the problem is on the
board itself, most likely a shorted diode, capacitor or motor driving transistor.

(There are 8 transistors under the big black heat-sink)

A long time ago, I was responsible for maintaining several flatbed Moviolas,
and whenever one of them went 'belly-up' it was almost always one of the
motor driving transistors was open or shorted. This circuit looks very similar.

The driver transistors on this board are under that big black heat-sink, which
I didn't have time to pull off the other day. I'm going to be back in this room
later today, and will bring a dental mirror, or maybe my 'snake-cam' to poke
under the heat sink and see if I can get any numbers offa the transistors.

So, does anybody have an actual SCHEMATIC (not the 'connection diagram'
printed in the Kinoton manual) that would identify the transistor types?; or
perhaps you know what the are?

anybody have any idea of the part number/availability/price to replace the
whole darn board? [Frown]

The board's part number is 1000 216 97159. I don't know its cost since we never sold one. The board used to list for $1,870USD.

It's not really much help, but some of our drive-ins used to have the old Norelco platters and MUTS. if the speed control was not set all the way to minimum, applying power would blow the the bridge diode cards in the MUT.

I have that MUT with my Kinoton platter but I don't recall a board like that inside it. Any reason a tech couldn't just repair the bad board? Shouldn't be that difficult.

I agree, Mark. It's probably just a shorted component, and I'm
suspecting it's one of the motor driver transistors, since that
was a common failure I used to repair on flatbed Moviolas.

I managed to get a picture of the the part numbers on the
transistors by sticking an LED penlight & a dental mirror under
the heat sink, then reversing the resulting mirror-photo image:

These are fairly common MOSFET's, that I should be able to source
locally, if one of them turns out to be the problem.

Right now, I'm involved with (another!) big film festival, and then,
I'll be working on something in Phoenix for a week, so it will be a
couple of weeks before I can pull the whole board out and do some
'real' troubleshooting.
