I am doing a program of shorts and trailers at the Pacific Film Archive on August 17 and was planning to include my 35mm print of the "For Theatre Managers Only" trailer for THE JERK.
But the reel of trailers it was a part of is missing from my collection at The Archive facility.
Does anyone have a copy I could borrow? It is not online nor has it been included in any DVD/BluRay releases.
It is NOT the one on this link but this poster describes it. The trailer is mainly Steve Martin sitting at a desk talking to the audience.

I'd like to see that trailer - haven't ever heard of it before.
I wish I had a copy of the "Airplane" trailer made by Leslie Nielson for use at theater conventions. He says something like "I'd like to give a warm welcome to all you exhibitionists."

I know the one he is talking about. He basically it telling the "managers" how the film will have places that will drive people to the concession stand and such. Very Steve Martin tongue in cheek.

It looks like Universal has come to the rescue. I will know for sure soon. I had forgotten the Airplane one. Very few of those theater owner convention reels survive other than in studio vaults if at all.

It does not sound like an Archive facility that I would want anything to do with...

It appears that an intern may have grabbed a few wrong reels to add to a donation I was making to The Academy. Still looking.
Meanwhile the ever wonderful Paul Ginsburg at Universal found a print.
After Steve Martin explains how they have put some boring scenes in so audiences will go out to the snack bar he is told this isn't the trailer for theater managers and the trailer ends with a visual FX of the film being pulled from the projector, then you’ll then see a countdown leader down leader that ends with a static card... It’s all part of the trailer.

I remember this one... I used to have it and it was funny. Didn't realize it was a special trailer, thought it was just done in the style of Albert Brook's Real life 3D trailer.
