All the Schneider Cinelux prime lenses I have, when unscrewed from their front parts, reveal a black barrel with glass attached directly to the lens at the back of the barrel... except one lens I have where it appears the black barrel and additional glass is missing. What is this black barrel with glass and how would it affect the image if it was missing? (Watch my 60 second YouTube video here to see exactly what I'm referring to)

Different focal length lenses are constructed differently. Compare with an identical lens.
I have seen ones with very short element sections. Can't recall what lengths now, of course. I have no 35 lenses to look at now.

Beyond what Dave said, Schneider had different models of the same focal lengths. The construction of a Cinelux versus a Super-Cinelux will be entirely different even on the same focal length.

You generally don't get to the point of being able to have missing bits (without having spanner type tools) until you get to beyond 100mm on Schneider. The 100mm + will often be able to separate about halfway though the lens. This is quite handy if you ever need stop down rights as they historically could make them for the 100mm plus lenses.
