Hi guys...
Anyone ever have this unit out/apart? I have discovered this one has a leak...looks like an input shaft seal...

Seals shouldn't be a big deal, and the seal number should be on the end of the seal itself someplace. Or pop it out and take it to a local bearing place to get a new one, then tap the new one back in place using the flat end a 1/2" drive deep well socket. Movements are not hard to disassemble but leave the bushings in place. It's highly likely that either the Star or the Cam bushing is eccentric to allow for adjusting the radius clearance and you don't really want to mess with that unless you have some experience setting it correctly.

The seal on a v5 is a rubber ring with a spring in it
There is a special tool to remove the old one and insert the new one
I assume that you could order them from Cinemecanica dealer

thanks for the great info. I may have to make that tool since cinemechannica doesn't answer any emails...
and i believe they are completely out of the film biz by now...
the seals in this doesn't sound like a hard job at all now..

be very careful not to scratch the spindle,when taking out the seal.then you will still have a leak.

I echo what Gordon said, the seal tool is a must.

Other than that's it's pretty straightforward.

some where i still have my kit for doing them but you shouldnt have disassembled the intermitent
