Once this plays in NYC and LA lets hope some of our 70mm film theatres in the SF Bay Area like the Grand Lake in Oakland and the Drafthouse New Mission plus Castro Theatres in San Francisco will get to play the print before It gets wrecked. They give too many prints in 70mm with a first run showing to all the NYC 70mm cinemas and LA theatres. If they only played in one 70MM cinema in NYC/LA they would have more prints to go to other 70mm cities to play opening week.

Arclight is probably the only place playing them in LA and they won't wreck nada. Prints here are well taken care of.

Tyler, Arclight killed 3 prints of Hateful Eight. Just because someone views a print a few weeks into a run in no way means that is their original print.

This movie reportedly had its post production work done via a 4K resolution digital intermediate. While seeing a 70mm print of the movie would be kind of cool, the 4K step kills off a bunch of the true 70mm quality.

Hey Brad, really? They may have had a problem with Hateful Eight due to that Weinstein/BLS projector setup, but typically they're good on prints.

Since the Dome has a Kinoton 35/70 setup and not a BLS dealy, I'd expect that to go better if "Murder" gets a Dome premiere.

HOWEVER that does not discount Brad's statement, as H8ful didn't run in the Dome due to SW7 shutting everything out.

I think it goes without saying some percentage of a successful, flawless 70mm presentation goes to the quality of projection equipment in place. Another big percentage equaling a flawless 70mm presentation, perhaps even the majority percentage, goes to having a competent projectionist in the booth who knows very well how to properly handle 70mm.

It will be interesting if they show it at the Dome.

They have a Kinoton in the other theater they show 70mm in as well, which use to be theater 7, but that changed recently. It's Sherman Oaks that has a BLS setup, but I've seen 2 70mm films there recently and they both looked great.

FWIW I saw the 5/70mm print at Arclight Sherman Oaks in LA, and the print was gorgeous. Flawless presentation.

Positive, but it came down today as they're putting the 5/70 print of Justice League in that auditorium.

WOW that's odd because I've been scouring the arclight's websites to find out what theaters it's in for the last week and Sherman Oaks was never mentioned on 70. So I'm off to Hollywood in 20 minutes! [Big Grin]
