I am currently cleaning up an early Kinoton branded FP20. The film break sensor works by having a film roller which drives a cam that lifts a magnet which in turn operates a reed switch. The friction that causes the magnet to lift seems to be some sticky grease type substance, does anyone know what this substance actually is?

The sensor was actually bypassed when I got the projector, was just interested to see if I could get it working again but it seems that the sticky substance has become too sticky!!

That sounds like the same type of device as was used on the DP75.

Kinoton has liked "Cardan" oil as a viscous type lubricant and yes, it does get progressively "sticky" with time.
