In addition to the "70mm seminar Krrr" in Krnov, the "Todd AO-Festival" in Karlsruhe and the "Widescreen Weekend" in Bradford, the festival "70mm Weekend" in Varnsdorf has to be in Czech: http://www.facebook.com / 70mmvarnsdorf / Although Varnsdorf is a structurally weak region, one could call the cinema one of the most beautiful in Middle Europe. The Todd AO screen is clearly curved and with the aid of Meopta UM70 projectors, the projectors are projected almost in the optical axis.
Already in the past years some rare historical prints were to be seen, among other things of "Can Can". The Agony and Ecstasy, "Porgy and Bess", "West Side Story", "Finian's Rainbow", "The Shoes of the Fisherman", "Amadeus", "Alien Nation", "Ben Hur", "Fall of the Roman Empire", "War and Peace" and so on. in english and german dubbed versions.
In the foyer of the cinema is an exhibition of historical cinema and television technology, configured in horseshoe shape around the cinema hall.

The festival was made possible only by the framing in the Eastern European film festival Neisse, that supports a striking repertoire in this film series.

Would love to see Porgy & Bess some time. I stood next to a print of it that was sitting in the booth of the old 4-Star Theater in Los Angeles once. But thats as close as I came to seeing it.

Replacement material of "Porgy and Bess" would interest us today. We currently have two 70mm prints, both have a German pretitle and German subtitles on the songs.
In 1999, one of the two prints of the Seattle International Film Festival was loaned to the local Cinerama House (and I missed my flight because I wanted to be part of it).

This year saw the "70mm Weekend Varndorf" at the same time a magnetic sound amplifier from Tesla and Dolby with Cat. 92c alternately operated. Unfortunately, we do not have a panastereo magnetic processor. Also welcome are donations in the form of historical film prints, even if they are a bit faded.
