Does the sensor board on a two lens turret (Kinoton PK60D) need to be changed when installing a three lens turret? If a change out is necessary, does anyone have the part number for the 3 lens sensor board?

The sonsor board withe the four IR Sensors and the four potentiometers mountet directly on top of the turret works for both two and three lens turret. Only differece are the two PIC-controllers on the PCB above the apperture-plate-changer, the omes for two lens are labeled ...2A and ...2B and for the three lens ...3A and ...3B.

Are you saying that NO change of any kind is required when converting from the two lens turret to the three?

I would say that at least the PIC would have to be changed if you are going from two lens to three.

Of course, another thing to consider: even though Kinoton's lens and aperture turrets are better than most, they are still a pain in the butt. Unless you have a situation where multiple format changes are required for every show, I'd personally stick to single lens holders and change them as needed.

The ones at UC Irvine were a real pain to get dialed in (but worked well once they were) but since almost every screening was a single film, and done with changeovers, it was a HUGE waste of money to have them. (They had also gotten snookered into buying a pin matrix automation, which was never installed, the University gave it to me, and after it rattled around in my shop for several years, met the dumpster.)

All questions have been answered, the three lens turret is installed and working properly. For those people who one day might want to make the change from 2 to 3 lens please know that the two chips on the control board must bear the numbers 8103A and 8103B. The chips with 8102A & B are for two lens turrets only. So when you change the turret you'll have to change the control board as well. Thanks for everyone's help.
