Hi folks, probably a naive question. I have an old desktop 35mm film projector with a Super-Cinestar 35 lens (F=110 F/1.8). I also have a Kowa Prominar Anamorphic lens. Just looking for a clever way to mount the scope lens in front of the standard one. The base of the scope lens is slightly larger than the diameter of the base lens, but it doesn't screw onto it, and it's too heavy anyway. Is there a mounting system I could find for this purpose? I'm thinking of building something out of tripods and wood but thought I'd check here for ideas. (I'm a film/video artist on a low budget.)

That's how some of the 3 party attachment makers would have to be used correctly, in with using a method where the attachment hung in front of the lens via means of a bracket or similar.

This way, the lens remained in the projector.

If you're good with metal and/or wood fabrication, is to make your own suspension bracket for the attachment.

I've seen this work a few times, even in existing cinemas.

The Kowa/Kolmorgan lenses have a slightly different thread. There are lens adapters to mate them together.

For a temporary setup with a 16 mm machine I've used a retort stand, boss and clamp borrowed from a chemistry lab.

At Bradford when a clip of something with an odd squeeze ratio needed to be shown an old Kalee Varamorph was propped up on something in front of the projector.

For something mor permanent, if you have access to a screwcuttinging lathe you could turn up an adapter to attach the anamorphic to the threads on the front of the prime lens.

For a desk-top projector, I too have borrowed a chem lab stand and clamp of about right diameter to hold anamorphic adapter. Run your cartoon flat, then slide the lab stand with adapter in front of prime lens to spread "CinemaScope" clear across the screen, big Wow!
