Datasat/DTS five screen channel USB flash drives were shipped with the new 2001 A Space Odyssey 70mm film prints. Only 5.1 Datasat CD discs were also provided. Can the five screen channel USB flash drive be copied to a CD-R and played on a Special Venue (SV) DTS-6D or DTS-6AD to reproduce the full original six channel soundtrack? Only the SV DTS CD processors play either 5.1 or 6.0 discs.

We got the 5-across mix on three CDs when we ran the new 70mm print, so if it won't work from the USB stick we're more than happy to send you the ISO images. We haven't tried them on the 6D as we don't have 5 screen channels but I assume they'd work as they have the old-style dts.exe on them.

The problem is the special venue "disk" uses channel 7 & 8 in the XD-10/20 that is not available on the 6D. The special venue disks for the 6D put LE & RE on the left & right surround channels and uses the subwoofer channel as a mono surround. You need a special disks for the 6D channel configuration plus reassign the output.

Stephen is correct. The "Unrestored" and the "8-channel" of prior releases but LC/RC on their designated channels. Prior releases put LC/RC on Ls/Rs.

Note, the SAME PRINT NUMBER is used for the Unrestored and the prior releases and the soundtracks do work (I tried it...not all of the way through but enough).

5.1, 6.0, 8-channel and unrestored versions can be had.

Confirming that the "unrestored" disks work with the older DTS prints. When we played it last summer, we got both disks (5.1 and Todd-AO). The Todd-AO mix played fine in an XD20.
