Hello everyone!

We are experiencing some issues when sending DCPs with acessibility (Closed Captions, Audio Description and Closed Captions) to Cinema Theatres. When Cinemas try to ingest the DCPs, the ingest comes to 99% and stops, showing error message "Falta Recursos", which would be translated from portuguese as "Missing Resources".

We had this issue 3 times so we identified that the projector at these 3 situations was the same: Solaris One Plus.

We managed to identify an alternative solution: by sending one empty Subtitle XML file, cinema theatre managed to add this file into the HD with the DCP and ingested again. Success.

The DCP has burned in normal subtitles (although Closed Caption is a separate XML file).

We checked the DCP and Closed Caption file was inserted normally. And it is set into DCP as Closed Caption correctly (not as Open Caption or as normal Subtitle).

Do you have any idea on what issue this could be? Or if there is any configuration able to be done at the projector so we can inform the theatres to bypass this problem?

Strange! How did you know what to name the empty subtitle file? It SEEMS that there is a reference to the "missing" file in the CPL or packing list.

The Solaria ICMP is much less forgiving about errors in your DCI than most other software vendors. The errors it gives aren't always the most descriptive, but you should check the logs, they may have more information about what package is missing for example.

But I think Harold already pointed out what's wrong. There is probably something referenced in one of your Composition Playlists, Packet list or Asset list that's not physically there. I'd search all of them for that subtitle XML file.

Yes, the weird thing is exactly that there is no reference in any of the PKL, CPL or assetmap files pointing to Subtitle files (only to Closed Caption files, which are there into the DCP and matching file names). Also, how could an empty XML subtitle file work in the projector with the DCP if there is no reference for it in the DCP created?
The DCP ran normally in other theatres and other projectors. Issue happens only with this solaria one plus system.

How did you get to the idea that an empty subtitle file would solve the issue? Do I understand correctly that this empty subtitle file is not referenced at all by the problematic DCP in question? That is, it only sits there as a file in the ingest directory with no reference to any other DCP assets?

So, is that a SMPTE/MXF subtitle file? You write 'XML' - is that an XML file within a UUIDnamed folder as with proper interop subtitles? Does that XML have a common subtitle header, or is it an empty (0) file?

What is the exact name of the CPL? Wondering wether the CPL name indicates a subtitle being present (as EN) to indicate the burn-in subtitle or the closed caption language, but the Christie IMB-S2 then falsely assumes that a subtitle file going with that must be present. Did you use lower case language code for the burn-in subtitles?

Maybe it is a bug in the Christie IMB-S2 ingest module...

The cinema operator sugested this trick (to send an empty XML file). It is a Interop XML file with headers but with 0 subtitles.

Yes, you got it right. The DCP does not refer at all to a subtitle file. Neither into CPL nor PKL and Assetmap.

CPL is:

Maybe it's indeed a very stupid ingest module - looking at subtitle language QBC in the DCNC name, and then simply expecting a timed text subtitle file to be present. You could try to rename the DCP, leaving out the subtitle/CCAP language just from the DCNC name, but still wrapping it correctly. That would show the bug in the ingest method.

Of course, the most compatible way would be to always supply that empty subtitle file for the time being. Other smarter servers will simply ignore it, and as it eats no space...

What's the name of that empty sub file?
