I have located a compact Christie lamphouse and rectifier.
The rectifier says it can do 120v. The lamphouse takes a 1000w lamp. Will that be too much or just right for a small backyard setup? What sort of rebuilding can I do to both the rectifier and the lamphouse. Both will need some repainting as they sat in a abandoned theater for 8 years.

The H-10 lamphouse will work fine for a small setup, with a screen width of say 15-20 feet wide max. Any bigger than that and you'll probably need to step up to a 2k lamp. One of the pitfalls with that lamphouse is the circlip on the focus adjuster rod falls off, I replaced it with a washer and small cotter pin in a hole drilled through that rod.

As for the power supply, be careful. That model had a bad habit of catching fire a lot. IIRC the problem was caused by the tap switch. Check all connections for discoloration or burning, and NEVER change that tap switch with the lamp on. (I MIGHT still have a copy of the manual for that supply.)

You'll probably need to change the large filter cap too, after sitting that long and as old as it is, it will most likely be bad.

You might be better off trying to find one of the LP Assoc. 120 volt rectifiers, It is a model 8501. The manual is in the Warehouse HERE
