I just bought a new DVD about a film star I was attracted to in the sixties for her physical attributes rather than her artistic talents. After watching parts of "THE WILD, WILD WORLD OF JANE MANSFIELD" about the late sex goddess, I realized I bought a turkey and it's not even Thanksgiving yet. The documentary about Miss Mansfield shows her on a tour of Europe being admired by many men on the streets but I was not impressed by her overweight "has been" looks. The documentary was suppose to be exciting but it turned out to be nothing more that a total waste of time As a person who was expecting to see a lot more of her than it was allowed at the peak of her career, all there was were a couple of seconds of clips of "PROMISES, PROMISES" and nothing more.

There were clips of European film trailers that had nothing to do with Miss Mansfield and the were all very boring. The only part of the DVD I found exciting were some short films of what looks like they were of Marilyn Monroe before she started her film career. The clips were all continuous and in black and white. It shows her first wearing a two piece outfit and ends showing her only in her 'birthday suit'. The unique thing about this film was how much of her was shown. Because the film looks like it was made in the fifties I was surprised that there were quick views of her lower anatomy that was not permitted at the time. The liner notes indicates that this is a rare film clips of Marilyn Monroe and known as her "Coke Bottle" film. Some has claimed that it is not the real Marilyn Monroe in the film but I think it is.

And could the director, "Arthur Knight" really be the same person who reviewed film in Saturday Review ?
Is Jayne even in the same city as the topless beauty contest entrants?
The one-sheet promises top-less shoeshine girls, but these were missing when it played here (I was working, not a customer). The distrib. said the footage had been cut by the Ontario Censor Board and they had not thought to replace it when shipped out of the province.
Wonderful ending, when we are taken by her (no mention of ex-)husband Mickey Hargitay and the children through "the house that love built" out to the back yard where there is a heart-shaped pink stone on which is written, "We miss you, Mommy". We actually had a couple in wheelchairs come back the following week hoping to see it again!
A jaw-dropper throughout.

Claude, by your description, it sounds like that Marilyn clip was used in an experimental film by Bruce Conner called Marilyn Times Five. I, too, was quite surprised by it. It's a jaw dropper. It certainly looked like her to me, but I have since learned, that it is not. From Myths and Truths about Marilyn .
